DENVER – Colorado animal groups are taking action and heading to Texas to help frightened, hungry animals separated from their families.

A Longmont-based animal search and rescue team recently deployed a group of volunteers to the Houston area to assist the Houston SPCA.

Volunteers from Code 3 Associates joined Big Animal Rescue Truck to help animals in the affected areas. A Code 3 Facebook post on Tuesday said the group was staging just north of Houston.

Pets are often the forgotten victims when natural disasters strike.
